Our expert says:
Many puppies go through a barking stage at about this age, especially if they sleep outside. It sounds like he has everything he needs. Don't over-exercise him (5 mins to half an hour a day is plenty for this big breed). Is he getting enough food according to his weight, last meal in the evening before bedtime? Is he warm enough at night? The best thing to do about the barking is to ignore it totally. If he gets a face shouting at him from the window it may be just what he wanted and so this can become an attention-seeking behaviour. Try giving him a dose of Rescue Remedy or Valerian (ask your vet for dosage) just before you go to bed at night for a week or so. This should make him sleep better and hopefully break the pattern.
