Our expert says:
Absolutely. It's the right type of training for sure, and all you need to make sure is that you do it often enough, and for long enough. The time is a function of the class - most last between 45 and 60 minutes, so that's perfect. As for how often, the rcommendation is that one do 5 days a week of exercise. Now that's probably not feasible doing JUST spinning, at least for the first few months, as you try to build up some form of fitness. However, as you get fitter and stronger, you can certainly do three sessions. I would say two a week to begin with is perfect, and then maybe look at another form of exercise to help you build in some variety and get a different type of stimulus from training. Something like walking, or maybe aerobics class at the gym? Once a week will do for now, maybe twice at a later stage.
