Spinal Fluid Drying Up?

My uncle was recently diagnosed with a spinal condition where his spinal fluid was apparently drying up. I have never heard of this happening before. Please could you shed some light on the subject. Particularly how it is caused?

Dear Bushay
One can get low spinal fluid pressure due to the brain not making enough spinal fluid, or spinal fluid leaking out. The spinal fluid is made be specialized areas in the brain's ventricles and if he had an infection or something it may have damaged this area.
