Our expert says:
Alzam, being a benzo, sedative tranquillizer, will make most people feel tired, especially in the early weeks on it. I'm not clear why you would be placed on == did you say various different antidepressants== in the plast coupkle of weeks ? ANY antidepressants needs to be taken, at proper dose, for at least 2 to 3 weeks before one can properly assess whether it'll be useful, so if one changes the ADS more often than that, one really doesn't know whether or not they might have helped. Side-efefcts are at their worst in this first couple of weeks, too, so one needs to try to accept them as they tend to wear off as the benefits start to become more obvious. And as improvement begins, it is common for this to be variable at first, good one day, and not so good another, until one remains well.
I wonder if you have been seeing a psychiatrist, a specialist, or a GP. If a GP, it would be wise to ask for referral to a good local psychiatrist for a full re-assessment and advice on treatment.
It sounds as though you ar emore sensitive to, and more bothered by, the initial side-effects of medications, and this can create problems, unless you are able to tolerate some such discomfort and wait for the benefits to become clear.
Also, ask about referral to a shrink who can provide Cognitive-Behaviour Therapy ( CBT ) a special form of counselling which research shows is very effective in Depression, and of course has not side-effects ! If this is done properly it starts to produce real benefits within the month, and never "goes nowhere" Analytical type wishy-washy therapy is useless, and simply a waste of time.
Hormones can play a part in causing some depressions, but its usually best to focus on normal treatment of Depression, to relieve the symptoms. Hypnosis is NOT a suitable treatment for Depression, and anyone who wouild say it is would have to be an irresponsible and badly trained quack
