Our expert says:
Skim and fat-free milk are the same, while low-fat or 2% milk contains slightly more fat. Skim and 2% milk are excellent sources of high quality protein, calcium and vitamin B2, with a lower fat content than full cream milk. Full cream milk contains 257 kJ and 3.3g of fat per 100 ml; 2% milk contains 208 kJ and 1.9g of fat per 100 ml and skim or fat-free milk contains 146 kJ and 0.2 g of fat per 100 ml. Thus for slimming purposes skim or fat-free milk is the better option.
