Dear Jackie

The side effects are due to congestion of the nasal mucosa. If you have an underlying problem with the anatomy contributing to nasal obstrution, surgery will help for this, but it will not overcome the problem caused by the medication. It will also not help for the dry mouth, if this is caused by the medication.
If the dry mouth is due to the fact that you are breathing thhrough the mouth, and drying out the oral mucosa, opening up the nasal passages will overcome this.
If you are unsure about the outcome of the procedure, I suggest you go back to your ENT, and discuss the concerns you have raised about the procedure.
