Seasonal or political blues?

i' m just wondering...why is it that SO many people get baaaaad depression this time of the as well, though i tend to get it worse during the autumn/start of winter (more normal S.A.D.-time than spring/summer, isn' t it?)
Or could it really be something to do with the economic environment?

Also, don' t you also think that it' s something that COULD be contagious? (psychologically, that is...) just wondering.....

You're right about S.A.D. There's also a factor of a combination of end-of-year stresses at work, exams, etc., though. The conomic stresses are a factor, though they steadily increae, rather than letting up at any particular time.
Psychological contagion does occur, but not quite in this way. Of course there's a simpler factor in what we hear of in this forum --- when one memorable or striking message deals with one sort of problem, it probably encourages other readers with similar problems, to write about them that day, rather than later, giving the appearance of an epidemic, when the increase is in people reporting a particular problem on a particular day, rather than in the over-all incidence of the problem
