safest female contraception?

hi there. i am curious as to what the safest method of female contraception is and whether there is a type of female contraception available that does not require an appiontment with a doc or gynae? ie available from a pharmacy etc. the reason? my boyfriend struggles to use a condom because he cant feel anything during sex when he puts one on. any suggestions?

Sterilisation is the safest method. Other than this the Pill and injectable both have a failure rate of less than 1%. Some pharmacies do dispense the Pill without prescription.
