Re: 286. Kitten still sick

Dear CyberVet

we took our kitten to the vet last week sat. told her about the protexin you recommended ,she said that that will help with the symptoms but wont clear the problem.

she gave us a powder (something with an m, will check at home and let u know tomorrow) for both kittens.

they' ve both stopped vomiting, the older ones stools are now solid, but little one still has really bad diarrhea.

vet said if that powder doesnt work we are going to have to send him in for Xrays. vet bills are killing us and i dont know how much the xrays are now going to cost!

not too keen to change their food cos they' ve at least stopped vomiting (we' r feeding them normal hills)... they vonit everytime we change the food.

please help, im desperate!

Dear Hasmita

Try panacur paste daily for 3 days. If the cats have giardia (a parasite that cause diarhoea) this will kill them off. X-rays won't show you that much, a feacal sample is a better way forward.

thank you, the vet did a feacal flotation test twice, and nothing came up. she' s kept us on the antibiotic for 2 weeks, hope he gets better after that.

See what the cvet says, but I really don' t think you should be taking and following advice from too many sources. Your vet, having seen the kittens, is really the best person to advise you.

I hope you' ve started the Protexin in the meantime.

Please also remember that the vet won' t mind if you phone with occasional questions.
