Dear Malthie
Healthy kidneys are able to prevent passage of proteins into the urine, but if you have a kidney condition (which can vary from common infections to serious kidney failure), then some of the protein is lost in the urine. I trust that you are receiving medical treatment for your condition? As you don't mention what kidney condition you are suffering from and what treatment you are receiving, it is difficult to answer your question. Slight proteinuria which could develop during a kidney infection would probably disappear with antibiotic treatment. If your kidneys have been permanently damaged, then proteinuria would not disappear. You would have to ask the dr if your condition is curable or not.
Best regards
