Possible attack, cant move

My husband says that sometimes when he is sleeping he wakes and cant move. He can only breath. He cant even open his eyes. He says it feels like there is electricity going through his body, getting stronger, and then it goes away. While it is happening he knows what is going on around him.
He is 28 years old, otherwise in good health, but a smoker. He is also quite stressed at work. Could this be a kind of anxiety attack??

Dear CVB
This is probably a type of sleep paralysis and stress can be a cause. Give him 2 Biral at night, ensure that he gets exercise, see that he sleeps enough, give him vit B complex supplements, and let him practice relaxation techniques. http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/relaxation-technique/SR00007
