Hi Dr,
What would your advice be to get rid of pigmentation (age/sun spots) on the hands and arms. Would a combination of IPL and glycolic peels be a good regime?

Hi Bess, thank you for the question.

The removal of pigmentation can be very successful using IPL only and there is no real need for the glycolic acid peels.
However, the peels will have other benefits to the skin and may be considered as an additional treatment to enhance these benefits:

Removal of dead outer layer
Increased skin hydration
Healthy skin glow
Stimulation of collagen and elastin with resultant skin thickening
Improvement of skin elasticity

The success of pigment removal with any technology is dependent on two main factors: the operator using the machine (choosing the correct setting is vital) and the type of technology or machine that is being used (not all machines are equal in their effect).
