Period and Infection

Hi Doc,
I recently went to my gynae who advised that I had an infection from using tampons which caused the blood to not be flushed out properly, hence the infection. I was given some tablets to "clean me out" and all was good until my next period. Do I have to stop using tampons or is there another way to ensure all is "cleaned out" after each period and avoid infection?

Change the tampons frequently.
