Period 5 weeks late

My period is 5 weeks late and I'm starting to grow a bit concerned.
My boyfriend had a vasectomy 7 years ago (the snip, not tied) so I'm sure I can't be pregnant.
I had an operation middle of December, so had aneasthetic etc.
Could the aneasthetic cause me to be this late, or can it be something else? I had my last period just before the operation, and an extremely light flow for two days after the operation (when I say light I mean really light).
Help! This is increasing my stress levels!

Hi Dom
Stress, being sick and medications all can cause you to skip a period. Remember it is not "bad" for you to skip a period, but if you are worried that you could be pregnant which is highly unlikely, do a pregnancy test just for your own peace of mind. Stressing about it may keep it away longer!!

i had the same thing, but the only probably my doc found was a cyst on my ovary. i also stressed about it which probably made it go on longer! you should just go for a check up. :-)
