Peppermint

Good day Doc ,

I want to find out if its true that people with stomach problems like hiatitis hernia,
should stay away from peppermint and chewing gums.
I readthis in a Health 24 article .

Is this true , what will happen if you use it.

Regards,

XXXX

XXX, peppermint may irritate the stomach lining (you will have to eat quite a lot though), but chewing gum will do nothing. There is this whole idea that the stomach will secrete acid in anticipation of the food coming, but it doesn’t work that way – the body will see that the Ph in the stomach will go to low and stop secreting acid. Good luck.
