pap smear after hysterectomy

I had a hysterectomy many years ago and am now menopausal, naturally, not because of the hyst--they left the ovaries. Someone just told me I should have been having pap smears all these years but I thought there is no cervix left so why have the smear done?

Unless you had the hysterectomy for cancer, you are right - there is no need for pap smears. Gynae check-ups from time to time are still a good idea.

Best wishes
