Our expert says:
Although Prozac ( you'd save money by getting, instead, the generic Fluoxetine, checking for the cheapest version available, as these chemically equivalent generic forms are often much cheaper than the earlier brand-name, like "Prozac" and work exactly the same )--- was originally used as an antidepressant, that family of dugs ( including Cilift, and others ) has been found to be very useful in many cases, in the treatment of Panic Disorder, and other anxiety-type problems. It obviously can only be used with a prescription, but your GP can provide this and check how it's helping you. While some people notice benefits earlier, one expects fuller effects after 14 days or more.
Ideally, for the best treatment, you would take such a medication with extra assistance from a psychologist, to help you learn to reduce those panicky peaks of anxiety whenever you need to, to understand what triggers them, and to de-sensitize yourself to those triggers. Maybe if the Fluoxetine / other SSRI helps, as it is likely to do, you may feel better about the possibility of travelling to see a psychologist, even if it's for one or two sessions, so he/she can then teach you some techniques which you can use at home.
