Muscle spasm

Sorry for asking this question in Afrikaans!

Hi Liza

No problem, sorry for answering it in English!

I think your problem could certainly have been caused by exercise, but not necessarily overdoing it over a long time, but perhaps in one or two sessions. If the back muscles are a little bit weak, and you then do exercise which fatigues them, then they can sometimes spasm suddenly as a result of the training you're doing, maybe a weight you lifted that was too heavy, something along those lines. It's difficult to say, given that you've now seen two people, who haven't pinpointed specifics on examination.

If it is a spasm, then the symptoms can last long, particularly if the muscle is never really treated and rehabbed. You might therefore need to have that release with the physio, to try to relieve the muscle tension, if that is the cause.

Good luck
