Butternut only contains 162 kJ and 6g of carbs per 100g (thus butternut has a much lower energy content than maize). There is no difference in the energy content of those small mielies that one can eat in salads, but because of their small size one would probably ingest less at a given meal than if you eat a large portion of regular corn on the cob.
