Foods that contain iodine such as fish and seafood can potentially speed up metabolism because iodine is used by the thyroid gland to produce thyroid hormone and this hormone is regarded as the "conductor" of the 'orchestra' of the human body. The other valuable metabolic stimulant is of course aerobic exercise such as running, swimming, cycling, etc., which can stimulate your metabolic rate for up to 24 hours after you have done the exercise.
