The ovaries secrete oestrogen which builds up the womb lining. After ovulation occurs, this changes to progesterone production, which thins the lining. This declines towards the end of the cycle and the withdrawal of hormones causes the lining to be shed.

theoretically every 28 days the lady drops an egg from the tubes and sheds the lining of the womb. these come away as the period. Provided fertilisation does not occur of course. not sure when this happens in between, but the period should happen every 28 or so days.

whats the bet?
