Medication whilst pregnant

I have taken Zentel without realising that i am pregnant. Took the medication when i was approx. 4/5 weeks. Should i be concerned. Packaging says not to take if pregnant. What are the risks?

There is a risk of birth defects. You should see your doctor immediately to discuss this further.

Discuss with your doc. He/she should be able to see any problems on regular sonar scans. Mostly drugs, medication, etc. does not have an effect on the embrio before about 6 weeks as the unbilical cord is still forming and transfer of chemicals to the baby is not very efficient.

Most probably it is OK, but make sure to mention it to the gynae so he/she can check to make sure. All the best.
