Measels vs german measels?

My daughter is 17 and she has a fine rash with swolen glands, listless. I think it is measels - should I take her to a dr or leave the illness to run its course? For how long is she infective?

Dear Susan
No, older children can more easily get secondary pneumonia or brain infection - rather let her see the doctor. Measles is usually contagious for about 5 days before the rash appears to a week after the rash disappears.
