Malaria medication

My 16 yr daughter will be going to Lilongwe, Malawi in early Jan as part of a swimming team to participate at a swimming event. We have been advised to give her malaria medication. Could you recommend some medication with the least side-effects. Please advise. Thanks

Mefliam will be the easiest to take - only once a week - but may have some side effects and is advised to be taken at night. Another option is doxycycline daily. Your doctor will have to prescribe these
