Live Sperm after Vasectomy

Is it true that a man still ejaculates live sperm after he has had a vasectomy until about 6 weeks after the op?

To determine the success of a vasectomy procedure it is necesaary to monitor the ejaculate for some cases upto 72 days post vasectomy. It is true that the potential for live sperm to persist in the ejaculate is a real possibility for several weeks after the procedure is done.
