Licorice

Hi
I know that Licorice is apparently an excellent anti-oxidant and is also very good to make the tummy work. Would you please advise as to whether it is fattening or not. I read somewhere that Diabetics could eat it. Any other interesting facts about it? Thanks and much appreciated!

Dear Colleen
If you eat plain liquorice without added sugar then it is not fattening. The liquorice all-sorts contain about 313 cal or 1333 kJ per 100g, so they can potentially cause weight gain.
