Labrador & Rottweiler

We have a wonderful, obedient male labrador of 4 months old. He has been to puppy classes and is doing very well. We are considering to get a female Rottweiler to keep him company and also for security reasons. Will this work out fine? Will they accept each other?

Hi Robyn

Yes, it should be fine. The combination is good. Keep up with the training and remember, Rottweilers can be more stubborn than labs. So just persist.

Good luck

Yes, you shouldn't have any problems. Most dogs get on very well if one is a female and the other a male. I've got a German Shepherd male and Dachshund female and they adore each other. Just make sure you take the rottweiler to dog school, since the benefits are enormous!
