Our expert says:
The condition is recognized and can be successfully treated. She should see a good local shrink for assessment and a discussion of treatment options --- best would probably be a combination of CBT (Cognitive-behaviour Therapy counselling ) and perhaps some medication. And meantime, the family should take routine precautions --- like ensuring that she has ( until treated ) no debit or credit cards, no check book, and is not allowed to draw money from the family account. She should voluntarily limit her access to even her own money, until she can handle it sensibly.
