KJ, Fat and Carb Counter

Dear Dietdoc

I have one of these books and know how to use it


I am 42, inactive (except for 3 x 20 minute walks per day) and need to lose at least 15kg.

As a guideline how many should I be taking in daily of:




Can you please make it simple I think the book is in grams but can't remember if KJ or Calories.

I just want to lose weight slowly.

My cholestrol was a tiny bit over on a recent blood test the doc said.

Dear Counting
Here are some answers: 1500 cal or 6300 kJ per day; Fat - 65g; Carbs - about 200g, esp high-fibre and low-GI carbs. If you lose weight and cut down on fat intake your cholesterol should also normalise.
