Kilojoules vs. Calories to lose weight

Dear DietDoc,

I am a bit confused and need some help. For a women you recommend 1 500 Calories to lose weight.

Because I am use to working with Kilojoules and not Calories am I correct in saying that it is equivalent 6 300 Kilojoules a day or have I got it wrong?

Dear Anonymous
You are quite correct. Calories x 4,2 = kilojoules. I also like working in kJ as this is the official measure of energy recognised in SA, but so many Readers ask about calories that I have to answer them using the non-metric measure.
Best regards
