Kidneys

Right ureter & kidney out of order about 7 years now. Left one not functional due to colostomy surgery error. In 7 yrs I've had 3 stents inserted and removed. Right kidney not in good condition, but working. Presently experiencing severe to mild pain in r ureter & kidney plus nausea and fatique. Suspect blockage again occuring but not willing to have further surgery. Last stent inserted 2/03/04 removed 19/05/04.
1) Approx how long to wait for complete blockage to occur
2) What time frame approx if it fails completely. what symptoms should i expect?
Have had 6 abdominal ops and tests reveal a greaat deal of scar tissue plus laarge hernia on stoma and organs prolapsed

Jackie,
1. It depends on the cause. Complete blockage will probably cause severe pain and nausea – not something nice.
2. You will die a slow death if nothing is done about it. You will become weak, nauseous, have difficulty in breathing/moving around, become nauseous, etc. and it might last up to a month (most of this time you will spend in hospital). Dialysis will of course be the only way to stay alive until you get a kidney.
Good luck.
