Is ciprofloxacin safe when breast feeding

I would like to know if ciproflaxin and ciprobay are the same drug and if there are any side effects for breast feeding mothers and does it affect the baby in any way.

Ciprofloxacin is the active ingredient of Ciprobay. It has been shown that ciprofloxacin causes species-variable defects in the cartilage of weight bearing joints in immature specimens. It is therefore contra-indicated during pregnancy and lactation, as well as patients under 18 years of age, unless treatment benefits outweigh the risk
