Which one of these treatments is more effective? I have had fairly regular IPL treatments, but now i have been recommended Radio Frequency ones. They evidently do the same thing, but far less painful?

Hi Carmen, thank you for the question.

Radiofrequency and IPL are completely different technologies with completely different effects on the skin.

IPL should have the following effects:
Reduction of pigmentation, pore size, and superficial veins
Improvement in the texture of the skin and fine lines
Stimulation of collagen and elastin with resultant increased skin elasticity
These effects are dependent on the type of IPL used and on the operator of the IPL.

The effects of radiofrequency are dependent on the type of technology used (unipolar or bipolar RF) but as a general rule RF will work on collagen only. A relatively new application of RF is for cellulite reduction.
