If you love somebody, let them go

My daughter met someone on mixit, and he travelled a thousand km to come and meet her. She is madly in love with him, but he has cold feet. She has come very close to the Lord, prays a lot, but also cries a lot. She believes this is going to be her bridegroom, although he does not call het, SMS her or write to her. She arranges her whole life around the idea that she will dance the dance of life with him, that he will return to her, that she must hold onto this dream. She gets the most amazing confirmation from her daily readings. Is she just hearing what she wants to hear? Is this a fixation? It's useless to argue with her.

It sounds as though she has been deeply unwise. You might meet someone on mixit, or on the web, but only when you meet them in person and really get to know them, can you possibly know whether you are comptible let alone in love. It sounds as though her neediness, her degree of desperation, frightened him off, as was very likely to happen. Yes, this is indeed a fixation, and she should see a NON-church counsellor to help her come to her senses. She is misusing the scriptural readings, which were never meant to find a lover for a lonely girl

Nothing you say will change her mind! She must learn the hard way
