Hypertension

A dear friend of mine is suffering from acute hypertension (202/150) and the doctors are unable to determine the cause. One of them mentioned that it might be 'spierfragnose' (I don't know if the spelling is right) What is this and what will happen to him if he has it?

Claire, is 'spierfragnose' an English or Afrikaans word? Let me know as a new question and we’ll take it from there. Good luck.
