Hyperparathyroidism

Dear Doc,

After many tests I have been told that I need to have a parathyroid gland removed.
Please tell me what I should ask my surgeon and what to lookmout for.
Is the operation dangerous?
Is it true that immediately after the operation I need to start taking calcium supplements again?

Sam, what do you mean with “what I should ask my surgeon and what to lookmout for”? He will know what to do and what to look out for, or did I misunderstand your question? Let me know as a new question and we’ll take it from there. Good luck.

Surgeons cannot find my parathryoid gland. I don't know where else to go.
