Our expert says:
The correct name is 'Hummus' which refers to a Middle Eastern dish made of chickpeas. You can usually purchase hummus from Spar shops, but you can also make it yourself. Buy canned chickpeas (available at most supermarkets). Mash 3 peeled garlic cloves, add the mashed chickpeas and 6 T of the liquid in the can or water, mash to a smooth puree. Add 6 T of lemon juice, mix well. Add 140g of tahina paste (i.e. crushed sesame seeds, which you should be able to buy at some supermarkets). Serve as a spread on pita bread.
