Our expert says:
These cramps and winds could be due to stress or the lower pressure at high altitudes, although the latter should not be a problem because most aeroplane cabins have their pressure adjusted. I can only suggest that you ask your gp for medication to counteract this phenomenon, as dietary factors probably don't really play a role. You could also avoid eating anything that is very spicy, fatty or high in fibre before and during the flight and avoiding alcohol when flying as these factors increase acid secretion and may contribute to the symptoms.
