How thick should your lining be to conceive?

I have been trying to conceive with a fertility specialist through AIH, my lining has always been between 5 -6 mm at ovulation. I went for a second opinion and the specialist said that the lining needs to be at least 8mm at ovulation for conception to happen. Is this so and is this the reason i'm not getting pregnant.

The uterine lining depends on the levels of the hormones that stimulate it, so it is the hormonal stimulation that might be the problem.
