how often

hi there

im 22 year old guy who recently started gym (three weeks now). i just want to know how often should i gym to get/see results. is two days a week (per muscle group) fine? i want to gym upper body (push ups, crunches, biceps, triceps, shoulder shrug, shoulder press) monday and thursday and then lower body two other days during week. is that sufficient? or do i need to increase it to 3 days per week per muscle group (which i really dont wanna do ;-) i do 3 sets of 8 reps

thank you

Hi there

You'll see results come in two phases. the first is that you will get much stronger without actually getting bigger, and this happens because you develop neural adaptations that make you stronger. After that, it will take about 6 to 8 weeks to see results, though you do sometimes get them even quicker than this. It does take a while though, so be patient. As for whether you need to increase, not necessarily, depends on what your exact goals are - it doesn't sound like you are trying to get massive and in this case, doing two days a week will certainly help. If you really want to get bigger, then a third day is a good idea though. But give it 6 weeks and see what unfolds.

Good luck
Ross
