Our expert says:
Take your wife back to the doctor treating her. Establish exactly what her BP is, and ask whether her treatment can be adjusted to give better control. If she is blowing up in size, she may be retaining fluid, and might benefit from a diuretic. She will need to be fully examined, and perhaps referred to a cardiologist, because the fluid retention may be caused by heart failure due to poorly controlled hypertension.
