HIV TRANSMISSION THROUGH EYE

Thanks doc, for your answer in 14910.

But, how much is ENOUGH and are you talking about 'raw' blood only?

Thanks

DP, you’re asking a question that I (or anyone else as far as I know) can’t answer. The exact amount of blood and the exact viral load needed to cause an infection when it comes in contact with a healthy eye has as far as I know, not been quantified. What I can tell you is that the volume needed won’t go unnoticed if it comes in contact with the eye – in other words, you will be able to see the blood. Good luck.
