HIV TRANSMISSION

Hi Doc,

Thank you for your answer in question 14802. Please can you tell me if it is possible to contract HIV if someone had to spit directly in your eye (what if the saliva contained blood)?

Many thanks.

DP, it is a theoretical possibility, but I don’t know of a case where it actually happened. It is a fact though that if enough HIV positive blood comes in contact with the eye, you might contract HIV. Good luck.

Thanks doc,

But, how much is ENOUGH and are you talking about 'raw' blood only?

Thanks
