Hills Science Diet

Hi - is there any truth in the story that Hills has withdrawn some of their cat food after poisoning cats in the UK?

There was some Hills withdrawn about a month ago overseas but is was from a different source to the SA Hills products.

Geez, guys - get your story straight.

Certain BATCHES of foods - not only Hills but also Eukanuba and possibly others - were withdrawn in the US, not the UK, because of contamination.

Now, it is SUSPECTED that there is a POSSIBILITY that there may be a problem with Hills and Vet's Choice here, because 19 cases of kidney problems - not deaths! - have been reported in both Johannesburg and Cape Town. To their credit, the manufacturers have not swept this under the carpet, but have advised the public, and no doubt they're working overtime to test their foods to establish whether in fact there is a problem at all.

I am not at all trying to trivialise this - it is quite obviously worrying to all pet owners - but let's try to keep this in perspective.

Read the article on, stop feeding Vets Choice until further notice, and watch the press. Obviously, watch your dogs even more carefully and take them to the vet if you're worried.

Yes I believe that Hills MD has been withdrawn and Vets Choice. Apparently 19 pets have died in Cape Town and Gauteng.
