1.Even if no symptoms of H2 in man, how soon after his 1st exposure to H2 is he able to pass on virus to partner?
2.Can partner be immediately infected, show no symptoms, then within a month show symptoms, be blood tested, positively, which test shows that this is an "old" infection? And the man's blood test shows negative?

Dear Jane
Incubation period is 2 -12 days , in other words, from 2 days after being infected , you can have the infection. Herpes genitalis can be transmitted even if the patient has no symptoms.
If you have had a herpes infection your blood would test positive, even if you have no symptoms. So if the man's blood tests negative, he has never had the infection before.
