Herpes

Hi Doctor

I have had herpes for about 6 years. I am now 8 weeks pregnant. But the gyny I saw on my first appointment, said that i will have to have a caesarean. What is your opinion? I believe that unless you have active infection at delivery, a vaginal delivery should be perfectly safe. Especially since i have had it for so long & have built up anti-bodies to it.

Your reasoning is correct. If there is no recent infection around the time of delivery you are probably safe to have a vaginal delivery
