Dear Me
Before doing IVF a full history and examination is required and at least a pelvic ultrasound to ascertain if there are any abnormalities present. In addition hormonal blood test would need to be taken as well as a full semen analysis and tests such as HIV may also need to be done. Once that has been done and a program is recommend there are many different programs with different cycle lengths. The most commonly used program is the long protocol which takes approximately 6 weeks from the start of the first injection to completion of the IVF cycle. The 6 weeks would include starting from your first menstrual period with usually a contraception pill. However a shorter cycle is also available with a similar success rate and that takes approximately between 14 - 18 days from start to finish.
