The reason why one needs to be careful about the amounts of biltong and peanuts that one eats, is that although both foods are healthy (good sources of protein, B vitamins, and biltong is rich in iron, vit B12 and zinc, while peanuts are rich in monounsaturated fats, which protect the heart), they have a relatively high energy or kJ-content: Peanuts contain 2431 kJ of energy per 100g, while biltong provides approx. 1348 kJ of energy per 100g. This is why you should eat sparingly of such foods and not every day if you intend losing weight
