Hazardous working environment

Good day, I just want to find out if your work entails coming into contact with hazardous substances, medical waste etc, by law, what is the legal steps the employer needs to take to ensure the safety and health of the employees?

Hi Mary the law has wonderful mandataory steps that the employer must do to afford you protection. The working arae must have a Health Risk Assessment, environmental tests must be done, Health & safety Reps must be appointed an be involved in th eprocesses, testing of employee, medical surveillance etc. Best idea is to speak to the employer,remind them of their legal duty ; no response contact Dept of Labour or an Occupational Health Company.
