Question

Have I got hypothyroidism?

I suspect I have low thyroid. I have had excessive weight gain, low energy, bad memory, low immunity etc. etc. I heard of a simple home test I could perform to guage whether I have a thyroid problem. It involves taking your temperature 4 times daily for 5 days or more before eating and before bed and averaging the temperature. If it is consistently below 37 degrees celsius or 98.6 degrees farenheit then it is more than likely I have a thyroid problem.

I did this and my average temperature for all 5 days is around 35.8 degrees celsius or 95.4 degrees farenheit. My lowest temperature was 34.9 degrees celsius or 93 degrees farenheit. All temps were taken orally.

Where should I go from here?

Dear Zoltan
Please go for a TSH bloodtest to determine if there is a problem?

Don't just have a TSH test, but ask for a T3 & T4 as well.
